I’ve been quiet for months.
Not because nothing was happening — because everything was happening, just not publicly.

I am the founder of Wangechi Gitahi Travels — Africa’s Travel Authority — built on one belief:

The Africa the world is sold and the Africa that actually exists are two entirely different places.
The gap between them is where our work lives.

One platform. Three businesses. One Africa.

Over 17 years exploring this continent, what began as a personal passion evolved into a travel blog — and has now grown into something far more expansive.

For the last few years, I went deep into the work. Important work. Necessary work.

We tell Africa’s stories. We curate bespoke African journeys for travelers seeking more than the brochure version. We deliver destination intelligence, manage strategic partnerships, and develop narrative-led tourism strategies that help brands, hotels, and destinations position themselves more meaningfully within the African travel landscape. And through tourism industry transformation and capacity building, we contribute to building a stronger, more intentional African tourism sector.

All of it was happening — just invisibly, with tunnel vision, head down.

And somewhere in that tunnel, I stopped doing the thing that built everything:

Writing.
Storytelling.
Speaking.
Showing up publicly with what I know.

❝ I became the expert who stopped being visible.
The storyteller who stopped telling stories.
The authority who went quiet. ❞

And while I told myself I was simply busy, the truth is simpler:
I had become consumed by the work itself.

That changes now.
The building continues — loudly this time.

There is much to say. Much to share. And something else I’ve been building quietly, specifically for you.

More on June 4th, when Wangechi Gitahi Travels officially turns eight.

Whether you are planning your Africa journey, working within this industry, or simply believe Africa deserves a better story — there is something here for you.

If you have followed this journey before — thank you.
If you are discovering us for the first time — welcome.

The next chapter is one worth watching.
